1. MSD – Financial Inclusion Specialist
Location: Gambella
General Position Summary:
The Financial Inclusion Specialist will facilitate access to markets and inclusive finance for smallholder farmers (SHFs) by organizing them into Village Saving and Loan Associations (VSLAs), cooperatives, and unions. The role involves facilitating market linkages, conducting market assessments, and building relationships with key market actors, including private sector and government institutions. The Specialist will also contribute to designing intervention concepts and ensuring robust M&E processes.
Skill and Educational Background:
- A degree in Cooperatives/Business/Marketing Management, Agro-business, Value Chain Management, Agro-economics, Economics, Rural Development, or Agricultural Extension.
- At least 5 years of work experience in project management and coordination, preferably in access to markets, financial inclusion, cooperatives, and financial literacy programs.
- Familiarity with the Market Systems Development (MSD) approach, VSLAs, and working with smallholder farmers.
- Fluency in English, Amharic, and local languages such as Anywaa and Nuer is required.
2. WASH Officer
Location: MC Aba’ala Office, Afar Region
General Position Summary:
The WASH Officer will oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of WASH activities at the Aba’ala Office. Responsibilities include managing WASH assessments, preparing designs, BOQs, and specifications, and working closely with the WASH Specialist. The role also involves contributing to new proposal development and program expansion.
Skill and Educational Background:
- BSc degree in Hydraulic/Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in WASH projects, including infrastructure development.
- Experience in project formulation, design, and management is required.
- NGO/private sector experience is a significant advantage.
- Proficiency in the Afarigna language is required.
