The African Union (AU) invites applications for its Internship Program, aimed at young professionals looking to gain valuable experience and contribute to the AU’s mission of promoting integration and sustainable development across Africa.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Education:
- Must be enrolled in at least the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program or have obtained a Bachelor’s or postgraduate (Master’s) degree in a relevant field.
- Be nationals of an African Union member state.
- Be full-time students currently enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s or graduate school program.
- Age Limit: Not more than 32 years at the time of selection.
- Language Skills: Fluency in at least one AU working language (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese).
- Moral Conduct: Must uphold the highest standards of integrity, and not have been convicted of any serious offense.
- Experience: No prior work experience is required for internship positions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Interns will provide administrative and technical support to the AU’s various departments and directorates, including but not limited to:
- Key Departments:
- Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS)
- Health, Humanitarian Affairs, and Social Development (HHS)
- Economic Development, Trade, Industry, Mining (ETIM)
- Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment (ARBE)
- Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (ESTI)
- Infrastructure and Energy (IE)
- Management Information Systems, Financial Control, and other specialized units
Terms and Conditions:
- Financial Responsibility: Interns are responsible for their travel, accommodation, and living expenses.
- Visa Assistance: The AU will assist interns in obtaining entry and residence visas.
- Duration: The internship lasts three months, renewable once.
- Insurance: Interns must have individual insurance coverage throughout the internship.
Required Skills and Core Competencies:
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Fluency in at least one AU working language; additional language proficiency is an advantage
- Core Competencies:
- Clear communication and concise writing abilities
- Commitment to AU’s mission
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Strong moral integrity and ethical standards
