Tsehay Insurance Share Company (TISc) was founded by 105 shareholders on March 28, 2012. With prominent individuals and business organizations as shareholders, the company gained public trust at its inception by starting operations with a subscribed capital of 45 million birr and paid-up capital of 11,480,000 birr—far exceeding the minimum requirement of 3 million birr.

Registered by the National Bank of Ethiopia under Proclamation No.86/1994 and License No.017/12, Tsehay Insurance initially launched operations with three branches in Addis Ababa.
