Position: Accountant Officer

The Center for Implementation Sciences (CIS) at the School of Public Health seeks to accelerate the translation of evidence-based policies into impactful public health and development outcomes.

Job Summary:

The Accountant Officer will play a vital role in overseeing financial operations, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support the organization’s financial health and strategic objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Analyze financial transactions, prepare financial documents, and maintain accurate records.
Develop and manage project budgets aligned with organizational goals.
Ensure timely reconciliation of bank statements and organizational records.
Supervise posting of accounting data to general ledgers and prepare monthly payroll.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in tax return preparation.
Prepare payment vouchers, verify them for approval, and manage income collection.
Provide assistance to internal and external auditors.
Address discrepancies in financial statements and provide financial guidance.
Perform other related duties as required.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance or a related field from a recognized university.
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in accounting or finance, preferably for organizations with large-scale or multiple projects.

Skills:

Proficiency in accounting software such as Excel, Peachtree, and MS Office applications.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
Capability to work both independently and in a team setting.
