1. Livelihood Officer (Business & Entrepreneurship)
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Agriculture, Development Studies, or related fields.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in livelihoods, particularly in business development, entrepreneurship, or economic empowerment.
- Experience in humanitarian or development settings, especially with refugees, displaced individuals, or host communities, is highly desirable.
Required Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of market-based programming and livelihood frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- Proficiency in monitoring, evaluation, data collection, and reporting.
- Basic financial management and budgeting skills.
- Competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Key Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of refugee and host community dynamics in Ethiopia.
- Ability to work in challenging field conditions.
- Fluency in English and Amharic.
Work Environment:
- Based at Metema or Aftit refugee site, with frequent travel to project locations.
Safeguarding & Compliance:
- Adherence to IHS’s PSEA, Child Safeguarding, Anti-Fraud, and ethical guidelines.
2. Livelihood Officer (Agriculture)
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Agriculture, Development Studies, or related fields.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in livelihoods, focusing on agriculture, business development, or economic empowerment.
- Experience in humanitarian or development contexts, especially with refugees, displaced communities, or host populations, is preferred.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of agricultural livelihoods and sustainable farming techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- Proficiency in data collection, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
- Basic financial management and budgeting skills.
- Competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Key Competencies:
- Solid understanding of refugee and host community contexts in Ethiopia.
- Ability to work in challenging field environments.
- Fluency in English and Amharic.
Work Environment:

3. Livelihood Coordinator
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Economics, Agriculture, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Experience:
- 6–8 years of experience in livelihoods programming, economic empowerment, or related fields.
- Experience in refugee camps or integrated host community initiatives.
- Expertise in marketing, production training, vocational training, entrepreneurship, and small business development.
Required Skills:
- Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
- Proficiency in monitoring and evaluation tools.
- Experience in financial management and budgeting.
- Competency in MS Office and relevant software tools.
Key Competencies:
- Deep understanding of refugee settings and socio-economic dynamics in Ethiopia.
- Familiarity with government policies, humanitarian standards, and donor requirements.
- Fluency in English and Amharic.
Work Environment:
- Based at Metema or Aftit refugee site, with regular travel to project locations.
