About Population Council:

The Population Council Ethiopia Country Office seeks Data Enumerators to support research and data collection activities across six regions for an impact evaluation study on the Evaluation of the Postpartum Family Planning Program in Ethiopia.

πŸ“Œ Since 1993, the Council has been working in Ethiopia in partnership with the Government, Ministries, NGOs, universities, and community-based organizations to improve the lives of marginalized adolescent girls, young women, and the men and boys in their lives.

The Data Enumerators will play a critical role in collecting high-quality data that will contribute to shaping national and international policies and programs for Ethiopia and beyond.


Responsibilities:

βœ… Conduct field-based data collection using structured surveys, interviews, and other research tools.
βœ… Ensure accurate and timely data collection while adhering to the study protocol.
βœ… Travel to assigned regions and communities to collect data from study participants.
βœ… Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards during data collection.
βœ… Collaborate with the research team to ensure data quality and consistency.
βœ… Report daily or weekly to the Field Supervisors on data collection progress and challenges.
βœ… Participate in training sessions to understand the study objectives, tools, and methodologies.
βœ… Support the transcription and translation of qualitative data as needed.
βœ… Assist in the preliminary cleaning and verification of collected data.
βœ… Represent the Council professionally in the field and maintain positive relationships with participants and local stakeholders.


Job Requirements:

πŸŽ“ Educational Background:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Public Health
    • Nursing
    • Medicine
    • Or a related field

πŸ“Œ Required Skills & Experience:
βœ” Knowledge of the Postpartum Family Planning Program
βœ” Experience in field-based data collection (preferably in health, social, or demographic studies)
βœ” Familiarity with electronic data collection tools (e.g., ODK, SurveyCTO, KoBoToolbox)
βœ” Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse communities
βœ” Ability to work independently and in teams with minimal supervision
βœ” Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region
βœ” Proficiency in local languages spoken in the assigned region
βœ” Basic understanding of research ethics and data confidentiality
βœ” Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
βœ” Proficiency in English and at least one of the preferred local languages is required
