Position Summary

The Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial and accounting operations by maintaining accurate financial data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to financial reporting and analysis. This position supports budgeting, cost control, and the financial decision-making process, working directly under the supervision of the Financial Manager.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Recording and Reconciliation

Record transactions in the general ledger.
Reconcile bank accounts, payables, and receivables on a regular basis.
Ensure accuracy and completeness in financial documentation.

2. Financial Reporting and Analysis

Assist in preparing financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual).
Conduct variance analysis to support budgeting and forecasting.
Generate ad hoc financial reports as needed.

3. Compliance and Controls

Adhere to internal financial controls and policies.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
Assist in audit processes and respond to auditor queries.

4. Accounts Payable & Receivable

Process invoices and payments.
Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables.
Reconcile vendor statements and address discrepancies.

5. Budgeting & Cost Control

Support the budgeting process through data collection and reporting.
Track expenses and assist in cost reduction efforts.
Collaborate with departments for cost management support.

6. Payroll & Expense Management

Assist in payroll calculations and disbursements.
Process employee expense claims in line with company policies.

7. ERP System & Data Integrity

Maintain accuracy in accounting and ERP systems.
Recommend and support improvements to financial systems and processes.

8. Customer & Vendor Relations

Handle queries related to invoicing, payments, and reconciliations.
Maintain professional communication with suppliers and internal departments.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certifications: CPA, ACCA, or related certifications are highly desirable.

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting.
Experience in distribution, logistics, or construction materials industry is preferred.
Strong background in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and compliance.
