Job Summary:

The Senior Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) Coordinator will strengthen coordination among various RRMs in Ethiopia and be seconded to OCHA to support multi-agency RRM collaboration and emergency preparedness/response mechanisms.

This position reports to the IRC Deputy Director of Emergency.

Key Responsibilities:

1. RRM Strategy Development

• Lead development of 2025/26 RRM strategy.
• Establish alert verification systems, SOPs, and data management systems in coordination with OCHA and RRMs.
• Liaise with other emergency response mechanisms.

2. Coordination with Implementing Partners

• Support communication between OCHA and stakeholders.
• Lead workshops and meetings for harmonizing RRM responses.
• Consolidate and report RRM updates to stakeholders.

3. Advocacy & Sector Alignment

• Work with DRM TWG, clusters, and humanitarian actors to ensure emergency response needs are met.
• Promote understanding and consistency across RRMs.
• Provide feedback to stakeholders and ensure effective sectoral alignment.

4. Safeguarding & Inclusion

• Promote safeguarding policies and gender equality.
• Support inclusive team engagement and IRC values.

Job Requirements:

Education:

• Advanced degree in Emergency Management, Humanitarian Affairs, Social Sciences, or related field.

Experience:

• Minimum 6 years in emergency management; 4+ years in management.
• Previous RRM and multi-sectoral emergency experience is highly desirable.
• Strong coordination experience with I/NGOs, UN, and donors.

Skills:

• Strategic planning, networking, and coordination.
• Excellent Microsoft Office and presentation skills.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Languages:

• Proficiency in English. Knowledge of Ethiopian national languages is an advantage.
