About the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS):
The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established in 1935 and stands as one of the oldest and largest humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia. ERCS is dedicated to providing vital services to communities impacted by natural and manmade disasters, including emergency response, ambulance and first aid services, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and other critical humanitarian services. The organization also runs disaster risk reduction programs focused on enhancing food security, climate change adaptation, livelihood diversification, and institutional capacity building to foster resilient households and communities.
ERCS operates through an extensive network comprising 12 Regional Offices, 34 Zonal Branches, 131 District/Woreda Branches, 599 Woreda Red Cross Committees, and 5871 Kebele Red Cross Committees. The Society collaborates with the Ethiopian Government, the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), partnering National Societies, and the communities it serves.
Position: Senior ICT and EOC Expert
Location: Benishangul Gumuz Regional Office
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Regional/Zonal Branch Head, the Senior ICT and EOC Expert will oversee the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) activities within the branch, ensuring that emergency preparedness, response, and recovery functions are conducted in alignment with established policies and procedures. The expert will also facilitate the installation and maintenance of ICT infrastructure, perform computer networking tasks, and provide technical support to enhance the branch’s ICT systems. Additionally, the role involves training users on new information technologies, managing information collection and distribution within the EOC, and preparing progress reports for first-aid and ambulance services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the Branch Emergency Operation Center (EOC) for informed decision-making on emergency functions.
- Facilitate the installation and maintenance of ICT infrastructure as required by the branch.
- Perform computer networking according to system designs and office layouts.
- Monitor and evaluate the branch’s ICT infrastructure to identify needs for system upgrades.
- Provide training on new information technology services to users.
- Manage information collection and distribution within the branch EOC.
- Facilitate the preparation and submission of progress reports on first-aid and ambulance service activities.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Second degree or first degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Management Information System, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Science.
- Experience:
- 6 years of relevant work experience with a Second Degree.
- 8 years of relevant work experience with a First Degree.
Terms of Employment: Contract for Six Months
Salary: 28,416 ETB
